Itinerary 

Day 01: Arrival in Jimma & Sightseeing
Morning:

Arrive in Jimma (by flight from Addis Abeba Ababa).
Meet our Driver and our car in Jimma Airport and explore Jimma town.
Afternoon:

Visit the Jimma Museum and the former palace of King Abba Jifar II, an important figure in Ethiopian history.
Explore the coffee-growing highlands, as Jimma is the heartland of Ethiopian coffee.
Evening:

Overnight in Jimma.
Accommodation: Honey Land Hotel / Central Hotel

Day 02: Drive to Mizan Teferi
Morning:

Depart from Jimma and drive south to Mizan Teferi (5-6 hours).
Enjoy scenic views of lush coffee plantations and tropical forests.
Afternoon:

Visit a Bebeka Coffee Estate, one of Ethiopia’s largest coffee farms.
Learn about traditional and modern coffee production.
Evening:

Overnight in Mizan Teferi.
Accommodation: Salayish Lodge / Local Hotel.

Day 03: Drive to Kibish (Surma/Suri Village)
Morning:

Depart for Kibish (6-7 hours), the heartland of the Surma (Suri) tribe.
Cross the dense rainforests and rugged landscapes of the Bench Maji region.
Afternoon:

Arrive in Kibish and visit a Surma village.
Learn about their famous lip plates, body scarification, and stick fighting (Donga).
Evening:

Overnight in Kibish (camping or local accommodation).

Day 04: Full Day with the Surma (Suri) Tribe
Morning:

Spend time in a Surma village, interacting with the people.
Observe cattle herding, daily life, and traditional ceremonies.
Learn about the symbolic meanings of their body scarification and lip plates.
Afternoon:

If available, witness the Donga stick fighting, a ritual combat sport among Surma men.
Take part in a Surma coffee ceremony.
Evening:

Overnight in Kibish (camping or basic lodge).

Day 05: Drive to Omo National Park
Morning:

Depart from Kibish and drive to Omo National Park (5-6 hours).
The road is rough and adventurous, crossing remote wilderness areas.
Afternoon:

Arrive at Omo National Park, one of Ethiopia’s largest and most diverse wildlife parks.
Enjoy a game drive, spotting buffalo, antelope, warthogs, and diverse bird species.
Evening:

Camping inside the park.
Accommodation: Camping.

Day 06: Drive to Kangaten & Visit the Nyangatom Tribe
Morning:

Drive to Kangaten (3-4 hours) and visit the Nyangatom tribe.
The Nyangatom are known for their beaded necklaces, body painting, and semi-nomadic lifestyle.
Afternoon:

Explore their village and learn about their unique culture and traditions.
Evening:

Overnight in Kangaten (camping or basic lodge).
Accommodation: Camping / Local Guesthouse.

Day 07: Visit the Dassanech Tribe & Drive to Turmi and after Lunch further more to Karo Tribes

Morning:

Drive to Omorate (2 hours).
Cross the Omo River by boat to visit the Dassanech tribe, known for their cattle-herding and riverine lifestyle.
Afternoon:

Return to Turmi for lunch.
Visit a kara tribes village to learn about their hairstyles, scarification, and traditional life.
If available, witness the kara tribes and in this day if there is Bull jamping cerrmonies we can attended the events .

Overnight in Turmi.
Accommodation: Buska or Emerlad lodge Emerald Lodge.

Day 08 : Turmi – Arbore

Morning : We can drive from Turmi to Arbore Tribes after breakfast .

Visit Arbore village: Explore the village, meet residents, and learn about their way of life.
Witness traditional practices: Observe the Arbore’s unique customs, including their agricultural methods and social interactions.
Interact with local families: Engage in conversations, ask questions, and learn about their history and traditions.
Consider a homestay: Spend the night in a local home to truly immerse yourself in the culture.

Day 09 : Drive Arbore – Key Afer – jinka through Key Afer Road ( Visit Bena Village )

Morning : After breakfast we can drive to key Afer

A typical day visiting Bena tribe villages near Key Afer, Ethiopia, would involve experiencing a vibrant market (especially on Thursdays), exploring villages, and potentially witnessing traditional ceremonies or rituals, such as bull jumping, depending on the time of year and the specific tribe. After spending mach time we can visit our next destinations villages the (Mursi Tribes Village in Key Afer ) .

Afternoon : Visit the Murai tribes communities village.

The Mursi Tribe, of which there are less than 10,000, are well known for the large plates the women wear in their lower lip. The custom of wearing a lip plate is linked to the female’s fertility and eligibility for marriage. Their daily life styles and their body scarification and their painting body we can have such un amazing experience we can learn from them .

Overnight at Jinka Nasa Hotel / Jinka Resort

Day 10: Departure from Jinka Airport
Morning:

Depending on flight time, visit a local Ari village to experience coffee-making and pottery.
Transfer to Jinka Airport for a flight to Addis Ababa.

Day 11 : Fly Addis Abeba – LALIBELA

Morning, arrive to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport & meet with us and transfer and check-in hotel. Then City tour of Addis Ababa: driving to the Entoto Mountain (3300m) for a panoramic view of Addis, Entoto Museum with historical and royal exhibit, The Church of St. Mary, built in 1885 and the old palace of emperor MenelikII. Take some images at Mount Entoto and drive back to Addis for Ethnological Museum that exhibits the culture and handicrafts of various Ethiopian ethnic groups, the National Museum in which you are visiting different archaeological findings (including Lucy’s replica Skeleton). After lunch, visit the Trinity Cathedral, Mausoleum of emperor MenelikII at Bààta Church and finally Merkato – the largest open market in Africa. Overnight –Hotel– Addis

Day 12: Explore Lalibela

Morning, fly from Addis to Lalibela and after lunch, visit the first group of six churches: 1.Bet Golgotha, 2.Bet Mikael, 3.Bet Mariam, 4.Bet Meskel, 5.Bet Danaghel and 6.Bet Medhane Alem. Bet Medhane Alem is the largest monolithic rock hewn church in the world, built like a Greek temple! In a corner there are three empty graves symbolically dug for biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Overnight – Roha Hotel or similar (3*) – Lalibela

Day 13: Saint George Rock Hewn Church

Early morning, climb to Asheten Mariam (optional) for a panoramic view of the region and a mountain Church named Asheten. After breathing on the top (more than 3000 m), descend down to Lalibela (at 2630m above sea level), one of the most fascinating historical sites of Ethiopia.

After lunch and a short siesta, continue exploring the fascinating churches (Second group): 7.Bete Amanuel, 8.Bete Marqorewos, 9.Bete Abba Libanos, 10.Bete Gabriel -Rufael and 11. Bet Giyorgis is the most elegant of all Lalibela churches, which lies somewhat isolated in the southwest part of the town on a sloping rock terrace. Also visit Nakuto Làabe Cave Church (5km from Lalibela).

Overnight – Mount View Hotel or similar / Tabor Hotel

Day 14: Lalibela – Addis – Departure

Fly back to Addis Ababa. Dinner at best national restaurant with live multi tribal dances (Habesha Restaurant or Yod Abyssinia restaurant). Transfer to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (end of the trip)
