Itinerary

Day 01 : CITY TOUR ADDIS ABEBA – FULL DAY

Visitng Addis Abeba will begin with seeing the orthodox cathedral of the Holy Trinity. It is the most important church in Ethiopia. In this church, there is a mausoleum of the last emperor of Ethiopia – Haile Selasje. his wife is also buried there. Then, we will see the National Museum, which is said to be one of the most important museums in whole Sub-Saharian Africa. 3,2 million-years old bones of our grand grand …. ancestor – Lucy, are one of the most famous exhibits of their collection. The attention of visitors is drawn by a rich collection of insignia of emperor and churches, costumes, and weapons. The oldest exhibits are rock sculptures and inscriptions from the times of Queen Saba, found near Aksum and in today’s Eritrea.
The ethnographic museum, which is a next stop on our trip in Addis Abeba, is in the University. It was found and managed by Polish scientists, professor Stanisław Chojnacki. The most interesting part of the exhibition is a collection of crosses and icons. The museum should be visited by amateurs of folklore instruments, since the collection of them gathered in the museum is impressive.

The lunch break will take place in the restaurant serving Ethiopian dishes and local beer. e.g in “Ambassador” with a large garden.

Afternoon
After lunch, we will climb the Entoto hill located 3200 m above the sea. There is now a new park with an observation deck offering panoramic views of Addis Ababa. Here located was the capital city of Ethiopia, before Menelik II moved it to Addis Abeba. The king’s palace remained until today. The local museum exhibits crowns belonging to kings and church, costumes, and insignia.

The final attraction of the day in Addis Abeba will be a trip through Merkato, which is believed to be the biggest marketplace in Africa.

DAY 02 Fly Addis Ababa – Jinka (BCO) and visit Aari village
We will fly to Jinka Airport and transfer you to the best restaurant in town. Today you will visit the Aari tribe Village outside Jinka. The Aari tribe boosts the largest population in Omo Valley. They are famous for their pottery making skills. If it is a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday) you will visit a tribal market in Jinka or the nearby towns.

Day 03 :
Drive Jinka – Mursi Village – Turmi

After breakfast at your lodge, depart early to Mursi village (50 km one-way drive on gravel road) so as to get a genuine experience with the famous Mursi people. Return to Jinka for lunch and continue to Turmi town of the Hamar tribe. On the way you will visit the Banna tribe in a village or at one of their weekly market. You may also witnesses the famous Bull Jumping Ceremony of the Banna or Hamar Tribe on this day upon availability.

Day 04 :
Turmi – Omorate – Turmi
Following breakfast, depart to Omorate town 75 km south on an asphalt road to meet with the Dassanech tribe whose name means people of the delta. Omorate is the last border town in southern Ethiopia. Immigration officials will examine your visa and passport, then continue to one of the best non-touristy Dassanech villages and experience the Dassanech people. You will return to Turmi for lunch and get rest. You will visit Hamar Village in the late afternoon.

Day 05 :
Turmi – Kara – Turmi
Drive from Turmi to Karo Korcho 60 km road to the most popular and attractive Karo tribe village. The village is on a hill where the Omo River makes a zigzag turn. You will meet the Kara tribe and interact genuinely by not rushing to take pictures. After getting an enriching experience with the Karo tribe and learning the local perspective of the cultures, you will return to Turmi for lunch. After lunch, you will visit a tribal market available in the area. There is a chance to see the Hamar bull jumping ceremony during your stay in Turmi town.

Day 06 :Turmi – Konso

Drive 200 km to Konso village on partial gravel and partially asphalt road. On the way, you will visit the available tribal market (if preferable and available to be decided by your guide by considering the previous day’s activities) and stop for lunch either in Key Afer or Woyto town depending on your morning activity. In the afternoon, you will visit Konso village, the Konso King at his traditional palace, the graveyard in a sacred forest where his ancestors are barred, and a grave mark called Waka erected.

Day 07 :
Konso – Arbaminch – Dorze
Drive 90 km to Arba Minch, continue to Dorze village. After enjoying the beautiful Dorze landscape and people, you will return to Arba Minch for the night.

Day 08 :
Arba Minch – Fly Addis Ababa

On the morning of this day, you will head to Lake Chamo for a short boat trip. It is highly likely to see Crocodiles and Hippos in the Lake. You will also see some of the beautiful lake birds. After lunch, head to Arba Minch airport to fly back to Addis.

Day 09: Fly Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar

This day after breakfast you will take flight to Bahir Dar. You will meet upon arrival and driver and our car to Tis Isat Village to visit the Blue Nile Falls, make a small trekking loop along the river side to view the water fall in every angle then drive back to Bahir Dar. (Note that the volume of the water could be minimal because of the construction of the new dam.)

After Lunch have a Boat trip on lake Tana to visit two monasteries on Zege peninsula, Ura Kidane Mihret and Azewa Mariam which are a 14thc monastery and famous for their mural paintings depicting the Old and New Testament. While walking to the monasteries visit the wild coffee plantation in the peninsula.

Day 10: Drive Bahir Dar to Gondar

After breakfast you will drive to Gondar passing through the adventurous road. After the lunch you will begin visit Gondar the Royal Capital of Ethiopia. Gondar was founded in 1636 by Emperor Fassiladas. In the afternoon you will visit the city of Gondar with the drive to the Castles and Churches built by Emperor Fassiladas and his descendants. Proceed to the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie (The Enlightening of Trinity) with Wonderful murals art and the swimming pool of Emperor Fasisiladas.

Day 11: Gondar Excursion to Simien Mountain National Park

After breakfast the trip starts from Gondar to the famous and beautiful Simen Mountains National Park. The park is known as the roof of Africa and contains several high mountains and the only place in Ethiopia registered by the UNESCO as a natural beauty. After two hours’ drive from Gondar we will start hiking on the Beautiful landscapes and mountains and admire the nature. There will be a chance to see some wild animals especially the endemic Gelada Baboons. Later you will be drive back to Gondar.

Day 12: Fly Gondar to Lalibela

After breakfast you will take to airport your flight to Lalibela. You will meet upon arrival and take to your Hotel. After lunch you will Visit the first group of seven churches lie in rock cradles one behind the other: Bet Golgotha, Bet Mika’el, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danagl and Bet Medhane Alem. Bet Medhane Alem, the largest one, is built like a Greek Temple and its stone floor is so polished by the countless numbers of visitors that it reflects shafts of light from apertures in the walls high above. In a corner are three empty graves symbolically dug for biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Later you will visit of the other groups of Rock churches of Lalibela Bet Giyorgis, possibly the most elegant of all the Lalibela churches which lies somewhat isolated in the southwest part of the village on a sloping rock terrace.

Day 13: Full Day Lalibela

In the morning after breakfast you will visit the remaining churches of Lalibela like Bete Gabriel, Bete Marqorios, Bete Emmanuel, and Bete Aba Libanos. Later drive to your hotel

Day 14: Fly from LALIBELA VIA Addis Ababa to Shire Airport

Addis Ababa – Shire Airport then drive to Axum

The tour includes the main stelea park. These famed granite obelisks are relics of this time and have gained UNESCO World Heritage site status.. Witness the famed granite stelae, including the Great Stelae, and marvel at pre-Christian monuments. Uncover the inscription of King Ezana, a testament to his victories, written in three languages. Delve into the tombs of Kings Kaleb and Gebre Meskal, marvels of stone craftsmanship. Visit the historic Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, believed to house the Ark of the Covenant, and see the Queen of Sheba’s Bath, a local landmark. End your day evening.

Day 15 : Aksum – Gheralta
Explore the ancient wonders of Tigray on this captivating day trip. Witness the legacy of the Sabean civilization at the Great Temple of Yeha, including its impressive structure, church museum, and the newly discovered Grat Beal Gibri tax collection site. Next, journey to the 6th-century Debre Damo Monastery, built by a saint, where only men can climb the 15-meter leather rope for access. Adigrat is a town found in the eastern zone of Tigray and very famous for food tour and Meskel celebration every year . So we stop for lunch then drive to Hawzen town in the late afternoon.

Day 16 : Visit Gherealta churches
After breakfast , we drive 12km to west of Hawzen to see the famous church of Abune Yemata built by one of the nine saint, according to the clergy men 6th c A.D ,this church is difficult to climb but truly adventure place with a panoramic view and best paintings inside . Afternoon , we drive 5km north of hawzen town to see another beautiful ancient rock church of Giorgis/St.George/ Maykado built in the 4th c .A.D by King Ezana and Sayzana and caved from the mother rock . This church is rich in treasure and nice paintings as well the vicinity is gorgeous with beautiful tigray stone houses . After we return back to the town we will walk and explore the town.

Day 17: Visit the Hawzen Churches
To day we embark on a hike tour to the most magnificent churches of Mariam Korkor and Daniel Korkor. Those churches built on a very high mountains of Gheralta but very astonishing view point to see the whole gheralta and gheralta mountains in general. The tour is an hour hike 2 hours visit and 1 hour returning back but the trekking and climbing is a bit challenging for older people and those who have breathing health problems . Afternoon, we a head to another amazing church near to the first one , Mariam papasit . We drive around 20 km from the main road to get there then we will have a beautiful walk via a green area and river as well as farm land . The church was built at the bottom and has many beautiful paintings.

Day 18: Wukro – Mekele

In the morning , we drive to south of Hawzen town to see the really amazing church of Abune Abraham , an hour hike and once we get there you will be amazed by the architecture, landscape, church treasure , paintings and the longest tunnel then we return back to our car for another drive to see again the most finest and oldest church of Abraha we Atsibeha. This church is easy accessible for any one and it beautiful view of gheralta and the village. It was built in the 4th c by the two kings of Axum and finally, buried in side the holy of hollies as well the it has beautiful 17th c paintings. Wukro Museum Wukro museum has a lot of beautiful collection staffs found by archaeologists and local people from wukro surroundings and hawzen sites and they’re well displayed with their illustrations. Afternoon, we drive 45km to Mekelle ,the capital city of Tigray and the head sit of Tigray regional government office . Mekelle is the second largest city in Ethiopia next to Addis Ababa.

Day 19: Mekele to Ahmed Ela
Start in Mekele and drive to Ahmed Ela, passing through Tigray and Afar villages and stopping for lunch in Berhaille.
In the late afternoon, walk with camel caravans and take pictures.

Overnight: Camping in Ahmed Ela.

Day 20: Ahmed Ela to Dallol to Lake Asale
Drive to Dallol to witness its colorful hot springs and unique sulfur-rich formations.
Visit the salt workers and merchants at the salt mines of Lake Asale.

Return to Ahmed Ela for an overnight stay at the camp.

Day 21: Ahmed Ela to Erta Ale
Drive to Kusrawad to obtain permission and security for the Erta Ale volcano.
Trek up to the Erta Ale volcano, home to the world’s only permanent lava lake.
Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at the base of the volcano,

Day 22: Erta Ale to Semera
Wake up early to watch the sunrise at the volcano’s northern pit crater.
Explore the historic geological structures before beginning the drive to Semera.

Day 23: Semera to Dallol to Ahmed Ela

Explore Dallol’s sulfur springs, salt mountains, and the unique landscape shaped by volcanic activity.
Witness the activity of salt workers and the local ecosystem of the hottest inhabited place on Earth.

Overnight: Camping at the base of Erta Ale.

Day 24: Fly from semera transit via Addis abeba to Dire dawa

This day morning flight or afternoon we can took to dire dawa airport transit via addis abeba

Morning: Fly into Dire Dawa, the closest airport to Harar.
Late Morning: transfer to Harar (about 55km).

Afternoon: Check into your hotel and visit the Jegol Wall, Arthur Rimbaud Museum, Jamia Mosque, the Tomb of Amir Nur, and traditional Harari homes.
Evening: Enjoy dinner and witness the unique Hyena Man show.

Night: Stay overnight sherif guest house in a hotel in Harar.

Day 25: Departure & Beyond
Morning: After breakfast, drive back to Dire Dawa.

Late Morning: On your way, stop to visit the Aweday Khat Market and the historic Chemendefer old Train Station.

Afternoon: Explore Dire Dawa’s colorful Kafira market before your onward travel . Take afternoon flight or evening flight take to addis abeba .

Day 26: Addis Abeba to Awash

Addis Ababa to Awash National Park
Morning: Depart from Addis Ababa.

Drive: Enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 225 kilometers east to Awash National Park, known for its acacia woodlands and grasslands.

Afternoon:
Check-in: Arrive and check into your accommodation.
Game Drive: Head out for a game drive to see wildlife such as oryx, greater and lesser kudus, warthogs, gazelles, and various monkeys.
Filwoha Hot Springs: Visit the Filwoha Hot Springs, a unique area with hot water and palm trees located in the upper Kudu Valley.

Evening: Have dinner and spend
the night at a lodge or resort within the park.

Day 27: Awash National Park to Addis Ababa

Morning: After breakfast, you can visit the Awash River Gorge and its waterfalls for some final scenic views.
